The Exotic of Kawah Putih and Situ Patengan

Which place around Indonesia that you like most to spend your holiday? Do you find it difficult or get confused since there are plenty of beautiful places in this country? For me, myself I will answer "Bandung" instantaneously. Because of what? Because, as far as I am concerned, Bandung is really a pleasant place for everything. It does not only offer its visitors with the delicious cuisines, wide range of shopping centres or traditional attractions, but also the wonderful nature. Bandung has blessed with beautiful nature surrounding the city. Therefore, a lot of people like to spend their vacation here, especially for me. Because it is the best place for me to kill the fatigued days of my routines. 

In one way or another, I will never get bored to visit Bandung. I have fallen in love with this lovely city, so it is rather hard for me to find other options when I want to go on holidays. I always feel like home. It sounds too much, right? But that is what I feel. One of the tourism spots which has captivated my heart by far is the amazing of Crater White Lake (Kawah Putih). And I would like to thank to Allah that finally I could visit Kawah Putih in my last vacation. Previously, I always got failures whenever I planned a trip to Kawah Putih due to some reasons.

Kawah putih is located in Ciwidey, South Bandung. It takes us for about two hours to reach this place from the Leuwipanjang bus station ( with no traffic jam). Alhamdulillah at that time I chose the right time, so that I could not get trapped in a crowded traffic. When you arrive at Ciwidey, you need to take such a minibus to the entrance of Kawah Putih. The scenery in Kawah Putih is so amazing that you will feel no regret to spend your money (if you are from outside town) and time.

Kawah Putih offers its visitors with two beautiful craters; the sub site crater and the white crater, which were formed by the eruption of Patuha Mountain. The view here is very stunning because of the greenish white crater lake. The water can change its colour based on the amount content of the sulfur, the temperature as well as the weather. Along the entrance trek, you will find a lot of strawberries and sulfur vendors. The area around Kawah Putih is heavily forested. There is pathway down towards the lake which surrounded by the high wall of the crater. What a wonderful nature.

When you walk around the crater, it is better for you to wear your hanky for your nose since the smell of sulfur is quite strong (if you cannot stand the sulfur fumes). Wearing shoes is more recommended because if you wear sandals, there is a possibility that your sandals will sink in the sulfur lake.

I am really sure that you will say "wow" when you are here. There are lots of things that you can do to make your visit in Kawah putih be one of your unforgetable moment. For those who like photography, it is the right place to make your best pictures. The beauty of its nature with misty hill and greeny water will make you thirsty to take some captures. I took many pictures in some spots of Kawah Putih at that time.

Besides its beautiful spots for pictures, Kawah Putih is also a good place to refresh your mind and soul from your daily hectic activities. Just release your burdens of life here. I felt so relax and free just by walking around the crater. Enjoying the misty hill and the greenish water of Kawah. Near the crater, there is tea plantation. So I walked around to explore the tea plantation and see people plucking the tea leaves. It was so nice.

From Kawah Putih, I continued my adventure in Ciwidey to Situ Patengan. It took me about an hour drive to get the place.

Situ patengan is a beautiful tranquil lake. The air is so cold here. I could inhale fresh air when I arrived here. Situ Patengan serves its visitors with quiet nature. Beside enjoying the view along the lake, we can rent a boat to encircle the like particularly to visit a small island called Sasuka Island. It shady with many tall trees. According to the legend, the lake was created by tears of prince and princess who fell in love but separated bacause of certain circumtances. They tried to look for each other. Since the time was already dark, I could not spend much time to feast my eyes here. The whole day is not enough to explore the beauty of Kawah Putih and Situ Patengan. I need more time. So I'll be back this year.

All in all Bandung has made me want to visit it again and again. It does not matter even if I go to the same places during my holidays in Bandung. It has enchanted me all the same.
